AFS YOUTH ASSEMBLY

The Changemakers Academy and AFS Youth Assembly Conference will introduce participants to some of the fundamental methods for creating and testing new ideas for social innovation, in the style of a team-based hackathon. Participants will collaborate in a small group and develop a plan for a prototype to key challenges, and present their projects at the culminating event.

1. Hands-on learning at the University of Pennsylvania campus – a world-class, Ivy League university
2. Interactive, application-focused sessions on interviewing, empathy, and community research, while enhancing design thinking, prototyping skills, creative confidence, and personal vision
3. A tour of the cultural and historic highlights of Philadelphia, a UNESCO World Heritage City
4. AFS Global Competence Certificate Program (virtual): Develop essential and lifelong global “power skills”
5. Celebrate new friendships on a Manhattan Boat Cruise while taking in the NYC skyline
6. Receive a certificate of program completion from the Center for Social Impact Strategy at the University of Pennsylvania.
7. More opportunities at the Youth Assembly:
   •       Networking with young leaders from over 100 countries in one of the world’s largest youth events
   •       Chance to win awards and prizes of up to $10,000 dollars to fund your social impact projects, and recognition on a global stage
   •       Celebration of International Youth Day at The United Nations Headquarters
